What is a self-service laundry called?

Can I wash delicate items like woolens or silk clothing using your washing machine?

Liquid Laundromats have washing machines equipped with different settings suitable for delicate items. Use the designated cycles for gentle washing to avoid damage. Check your care label.
How much detergent should I use for a regular laundry load in the machines at the laundromat?

It's best to follow our guidelines on the washer and use the appropriate amount of detergent recommended for the size of the washer. Avoid overloading the machine with detergent as this will not give your laundry a better wash. Too much could fault the machine with too many suds.
Are sports blankets suitable for machine washing at Liquid Laundromats?

Absolutely! Our high-capacity machines are perfect for washing sports blankets, including those used during outdoor activities. You can enjoy fresh and clean sports blankets after every adventure.
How can I ensure my clothes don't come out wrinkled from the dryer at Liquid Laundromats?

To minimize wrinkles, remove the washed clothes promptly from the dryer once the cycle is complete. Additionally, don't overload the dryer, as it may lead to uneven drying and increased wrinkling.
How do you monitor and regulate the temperature and drying duration of tumble dryers to prevent damage to clothes?

We regularly inspect our different location sites and maintain our tumble dryers to ensure accurate temperature regulation and drying duration, which helps prevent damage to your washed clothes.
Are there any specific rules or etiquettes regarding the sharing of dryers at your facility?

It's considerate to be mindful of other customers' laundry loads and space. Please ensure you stay with your clothes so you can remove at the end of your cycles otherwise other customers can remove your laundry.
Are there any special drying instructions for mink blankets at Liquid Laundromats to maintain their softness and fluffiness?

To maintain the softness and fluffiness of mink blankets, we recommend using dryers on low- medium heat settings. Avoid high heat, as it may affect the fabric's texture.
What is the difference between a laundromat and self-service laundry?

A laundromat and a self-service laundry are essentially the same thing. They are both establishments where individuals can wash and dry their laundry using coin-operated or card- operated machines. The terms "laundromat" and "self-service laundry" are often used interchangeably to describe these facilities.
What are the available washing machine sizes at your self-service liquid laundromat, and how do I choose the appropriate one for my laundry needs?

We have various washing machine sizes, indicated by their load capacity. For smaller loads, opt for machines with lower capacities which is 8 kg, and for larger loads, choose machines high-capacity washing machine which can load either 18kg or 28kg. The weights are only an indication.
What is a self-service laundry business?

Customers bring their dirty laundry to the self-service laundry and pay a fee to use the machines. How much does it cost to do laundry at a laundromat?

Can I pay with cash?

No, at Liquid Laundromat we do not accept cash payments. We offer the convenience of using our exclusive "Liquid Card" system to operate our washing machines and dryers at your chosen laundromat.
Do the prices include detergent and other laundry essentials?

No, the prices displayed for the washers and dryers are for the use of the machines only. We advise you to bring your detergent, fabric softener, and other laundry essentials for your personal preference and convenience.
Are we a Franchise or offer Franchise opportunities?

No. Liquid Laundromats is a NZ family-owned and operated company.
How much does it cost to do laundry services at a laundromat?

There is a Liqui-Card that customers can use, it allows you to monitor your remaining balance, making it convenient to pay and keep track of your various laundry service expenses. And the costs range is:  WASHING:  
  • For small washers (8kg), the cost is $4.00 
  • For large washers (18kg), the cost is $8.00 
  • For super large washers (25kg), the cost is $10.00 
  • Additional costs for self-service like Warm/Hot wash (+$1.00) and Heavy-duty wash (+$2.00) may apply 
DRYING:  
  • For small washers (14kg), the cost is $5.00 
  • For large washers (22kg), the cost is $6.00 
  • For super large washers (34kg), the cost is $7.00 
Is it okay to leave clothes at the laundromat?

Leaving clothes in the laundry can be risky due to potential theft or loss and it’s not advisable to leave your clothes unattended. If you need a break, ask a trusted person to look at your belongings and garments or take your clothing. Prioritising the safety of your items is always the best approach.
How do you use a liquid laundromat?

All you need to get started is a Liquid Card for your convenience. Simply purchase or top-up inside the laundromat at your chosen location to start washing using our super-fast commercial washing machine and dryer then select cycle without hassle. *Please note there is a $1 one-off charge for a new card.
Can I wash curtains in the machines?

Yes they can be cleaned using our high-performance washers. Please check the care label first for washing instructions. If there is no care label we recommend to wash on a cold gentle cycle.
Can customers bring their own detergent and fabric softeners to use in the machines at self-service laundromats?

All Liquid Laundromats are Self-Service where our customers bring their own detergent and fabric softeners. However, it's essential to follow guidelines provided in our facilities to ensure proper usage of detergent soap for best care on your laundry. Remember too much detergent or soap powder will not clean your laundry any better. Stick to the guidelines provided.
Are there any safety measures in place at your facility, particularly regarding the use of detergents and chemicals?

Do you have pet washers?

Many of our locations have a dedicated washer for washing Pet Blankets.
Are self-service laundromats equipped to handle different types of laundry, such as clothing, bedding, and larger items like curtains?

Yes, we have installed high performance washers and energy efficient dryers that are designed to handle a variety of laundry items, from everyday clothing to larger items like mink blankets, feather duvets, bedding, pillows, curtains, rugs and sports uniforms. Please check care instructions.
What are the typical operating hours for your self-service liquid laundromat?

Most of our self-service laundromat are operating 24/7, offering flexible hours to accommodate customers' laundry needs, but please check the hours at the location you require.
How regularly are the machines washed and sanitised?

They are cleaned regularly and the clean rinse water (not recycled) is used in every wash cycle at least twice.  The cleaners also carry out routine sanitising and extra hot wash cycles of the machines if required.

Can I wash feather and down duvets at Liquid Laundromats?

Use a minimum 18kg Washer - Check Care Label First -  but most feather duvets can be washed on Gentle Warm Cycle or Normal Warm Cycle and can be dried in our dryers on High Temperature – we recommend to help drying to put in the dryer 2 x clean tennis balls as these help break up the feathers\down

What are the temperatures on high settings?

Hot wash cycle temperature is 60-65 degrees maximum. Dryers on our highest temperature 87 degrees. Always check your care label first.

What are the wash cycle temperatures?
+

These temperatures vary but as a guide are approximately Cold/Woollens/Delicate cycles – less than 15 °, Warm cycles - less than 40 °,  Hot - less than 65 °

The temperature that is displayed on the washers is only an indication for the hot cycles.  The Hot Water Heaters are set for at least 75’c so by the time the water gets to the machine it would be at least 60’c. The washers do not have heaters in them so the temperature is variable depending on distance from the hot water heaters and the room temperature.

Do your laundromats have dedicated animal blanket machines?

Yes, a large number of our laundromats have a dedicated animal blanket washer.  These are 28kg super large washers that have special Pet Blanket Wash Cycles. These wash cycles have 2 extra pre-wash steps and 1 extra rinse step (total of 3 wash steps + 3 rinse steps). These heavy-duty wash cycles can be used for extra dirty laundry as well. Please refer to our website locations page to see if your nearest laundromat has one available. 

Can I use bleach in the washing machines?

Yes you can but always check care labels first.

Can I use bleach to help wash duvets in the washing machines?

Check Care Label First - Yes up to a cup of bleach could be used but only if the duvet filling is feather or down (not wool).  Make sure the Wash Cycle is Warm Gentle to be safe or if you want to take some risk use Cycle Hot Wash.

I heard that wool must only be dry cleaned?

Wool items can be washed on Cycle 5  -  Cold Gentle Wash.  They cannot be tumbled dried. The garments need to be air dried – dry flat if possible 

Can I wash Wool Filled Duvets or Woolrests at Liquid Laundromats?

Use a minimum 18kg Washer - Check Care Label First. Most of these special filled duvets can be washed but it is very important that they are only washed on Gentle Cold Cycle – these items cannot be dried. They need to be air dried only!

How is the credit from my old key applied to the new Liquidcard?

When key refunds are processed you need to place your card in the 1a card holder slot.  This is found on the card payment centre.  The credit will be applied to the laundromat at which you left your key.  A $5 bonus will be added to any outstanding key balance.
My washing was stolen from the laundromat. What do I do?

You will need to file a Police Report providing them with as much information as you can. eg. times, dates, a description of yourself (so the cameras can be checked), your Liquidcard number and a description of the items stolen.  Footage from our cameras will only be supplied to the police. To avoid this happening, please do not leave your washing unattended.
When topping up my card the money has come out of my bank but is not on my card

You may have taken your card away too soon. Place your card back in the 1A card holder on the payment machine you topped up on.
